IHS Science Club
The 2008-2009 Independence High School Science Club is made up 31 students. These students are enrolled in either Physics 1, Chemistry 1, or Human Anatomy and Physiology. Academic achievement from the previous school year is a key factor in determining membership.
Activities and responsibilities of members:
The club's successful paper recycling effort - every two weeks paper items are collected by members from faculty and staff. This paper recycling pickup is not a fund raiser for the club. It is done strictly with conservation and concern for trees/forests in mind.
Campus appearance - making the campus neater and more appealing in different ways is an important duty of club members.
Information about IHS Science Club and science related items in the news (from newspapers, magazines, TV, other media outlets, etc) - in lobby display case or in different locations around school.
Assisting with the 2009 IHS science fair during the 3rd 9 weeks.
Recognition of Earth Day in April 2009.
The annual Science Club field trip - scheduled for the second semester.
